Dr Roberto Ortiz is a graduate of the National University of Colombia, where he earned his medical license in 1988. He has been a member of Orlando Immunology Center since its inception in 1999, when it was known as IDC research Initiative.
Dr Ortiz has participated as a guest speaker for numerous community programs and is an active supporter of the Cheers for Peers program that provides HIV medication adherence education, counseling and peer support to people living with HIV/AIDS in the community. At Orlando Immunology Center, Dr Ortiz runs the Anal Dysplasia Clinic, where he uses anal pap screening and High Resolution Anascopy to identify and treat patients with precancerous lesions. Dr Ortiz also offers Sculptra procedures to patients who are suffering from facial fat wasting (lipoatrophy). Dr Ortiz is very active in research as both a primary investigator and a sub investigator for clinical trials. He is certified as an HIV Specialist through the American Academy of HIV Medicine (AAHIVM) and serves as a consultant to Bristol-Myers Squibb, Gilead, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, Tibotec and Vertex Pharmaceuticals. |
